对甲苯磺酸(分子结构式:p-CH3C6H4SO3H,也写作TsOH,英文P-Toluene Sulfonic acid)简称PTS,是一个不具氧化性的有机强酸,对甲苯磺酸Pka -2.8,与其酸性相近的有甲磺酸 Pka -2.6, 硫酸 pka1 -3.0 其他相近的很少。为白色针状 或粉末状结晶,可溶于水、醇、醚和其他极性溶剂。极易潮解,易使木材、棉织物脱水而碳化,难溶于苯和甲苯。碱熔时生成对甲酚。常见的 是对甲苯磺酸一水合物(TsOH·H2O)或四水合物(TsOH·4H2O)

碱熔时生成对甲酚。不具氧化性的有机强酸。常见的 是对甲苯磺酸一水合物(TsOH·H2O)或四水合物(TsOH·4H2O)。 

对甲苯磺酸用途

1、用于医药、农药、染料和洗涤剂,还用于塑料和印刷涂料
2、用作化学试剂,也用于染料、有机合成  
3、用作医药(如强力霉素)、农药(如三氯杀螨醇)、染料等的中间体。也用于洗涤剂、塑料、涂料等方面。  
4、 用途:对甲苯磺酸是有机合成常用的酸催化剂。用它与氢氧化钠中和制得对甲苯磺酸钠,再与五氯化磷作用,可以制得对甲苯磺酰氯。后者用在亲核取代反应中,也用作醇羟基的保护基。

对甲苯磺酸与脱水剂五氧化二磷混合加热后可生成对甲苯磺酸酐。

对甲苯磺酸生产方法用途还有:催化醇上二氢吡喃保护基、羧酸的酯化和酯交换反应;使醛生成缩醛;作为水解蛋白质和糖蛋白的催化剂;催化可用合成二氢嘧啶的Biginelli反应以及金属硝酸盐有区域选择性地在苯酚和取代苯酚中酚羟基的邻位进行硝化反应。

对甲苯磺酸生产方法 

制备: 工业上通过用浓硫酸对甲苯发生磺化制取对甲基苯磺酸。制得的对甲苯磺酸中常含有苯磺酸和硫酸杂质,可通过将不纯样品在浓盐酸中重结晶后,共沸干燥得到纯化

生产主要采用甲苯磺化法。连续生产采用三氧化硫磺化,南美国家采用比较多。连续生产产量高,能耗低,但砜类等副产物含量高。间歇生产采用硫酸磺化,欧美(日本江南等)、国内(苏州星火、连云港宁康等)均采用间歇法。间歇生产产量提高需要依靠平行的增加反应装置,能耗相对较高,但磺化副反应低,最终产品纯度相对较高。
